There are times when we wonder how effective we have been with certain clients. When a client is considering abortion as an option, we make sure she is given information about the risks and complications of abortion. We also use fetal models to show her the current stage of her baby’s development. Just recently a client fitting this scenario came to the center and we lovingly counseled her on the options of parenting, adoption and the risks and complications of abortion. She watched a video that included ultrasound at various stages of prenatal development. We also gave her appropriate literature she could use to educate those who have an influence in her life. Quite often a boyfriend or a parent is the one pushing for an abortion; the literature empowers her to defend her choice of life for her baby.
Several days later this young lady called to say she wanted to come by and get the documents she needed to process her application for Medicaid because she had decided to continue her pregnancy. What a tremendous sense of joy we have when a client decides to embrace her child as a blessing to receive rather than a burden to reject.
