Long-term friendships are rare in our fast paced society. It’s refreshing to find people who have been best friends since they were small children. Just recently, two young women – I’ll call them Stacy and Melanie – came into the Center. Stacy and Melanie had been friends since third grade; they were inseparable...and both of them needed pregnancy tests. They were so comfortable with each other they wanted to be counseled together. Although we couldn’t do that because of the confidentiality we extend to every client they were able to watch a video together and have their test results given together.
Stacey and Melanie now have something else in common: both of their tests were positive. As I talked to them about their results and the changes a baby will make in their lives, I took the opportunity to offer them an opportunity to share one more thing in common: a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I told them that their friendship was special, but they now had an opportunity to begin a relationship with Jesus and spend eternity with Him.
Stacey and Melanie prayed to receive Jesus and I reminded them that they needed to share their new found faith with their boyfriends so that they too would have changed lives. I encouraged them to get into a church and let the Body of Christ help them grow in their relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
They gave me permission to keep in contact with them. Hopefully we will hear good news as they prepare for the birth of their children and possibly marriage to the fathers of these children. One thing is certain; their lives will never be the same because of the respect they were shown and the good news, the Gospel, they received.
